In the world those who profit the most are those who lie without consequence and can cleverly back themselves up with commonly used phrases. In projects, spiritual schools, and institutions with alternative goals, people often swindle their way through and evade solid responsibility. While alive, some advantages can perhaps be hoped for through lack of obligation, but really only hoped for, because through lacking responsibility also life becomes poorer already while on earth. In any case, in the afterlife there is no voice that can be used to make excuses to get out of necessary obligation. Human beings will one day become that which they really are and they will not become that which they have acquired by way of life energy through cheating others.
In spirit, freedom should prevail, in economy, brotherliness and in the judicial system, equality. But what does freedom in spirit really look like?
It is very important today to free oneself of any belief systems, because in spiritual choice every human being must be allowed complete freedom. A church or a master cannot claim anyone for themselves and take away their freedom. However, this freedom can be misleading in the present happenings of our times if it is chosen as a social non-commitment, as an alternative presumptuousness, as egocentric uniqueness or generally as an escape from responsibility.
It is only in worldly existence that there is freedom of choice, in the spiritual and superordinate existence beyond death there is the virtue of obligation and complete responsibility. Human beings are obliged to strive for truth, and they have to live up to that insightful knowledge that they have acquired in order to be true to themselves. How and in what form of faith they do this, they are free to decide. When spiritual forms lead to egocentricity, constriction, narrowness, turning away from the world or as a counter-image, stronger attachment to the world, they alienate people from the source of truth.
This short poem is dedicated to Michael Birnthaller for his birthday on 3rd September:
Obligation leads to Freedom
In the world I am seemingly free
for work, play and sundry
In the spiritual realm rules obligatory gravity,
in undisturbed peace, with sublime dignity.
Freedom and obligation – a spiritual seed,
which will both to mastery lead?
If I commit myself to spiritual reality,
my senses and limbs develop profundity.
The eyes open in the sensitive light,
But if I live covetous ambition,
whispering in the zeitgeist of presumptuous intention,
my soul descends into the dungeons of isolation.
In the spiritual realm reigns the noble virtue of duty,
with an infinitely free face of beauty.
Necessary is the duty, that creates the median,
with great love and unique force of freedom.
Because there rules magic and sovereignty
in being decided for morality.
Therefore, when I die, I will recognise
in what form my freedom will materialise.

The obligations are there, fulfilled and complete,
mastered and rounded, the result is replete.
Freedom is the essence, the reward,
obligation and freedom form a souverain accord.
The choice of action, at first an imposed trial,
over which duty reigns, it is the holy grail.
In earthly existence the limbs are free and have motion,
blameless but without aim or direction.
In the afterlife they are free in the light, solely
if they have surrendered to moral duty.
