Can good meditation prevent potential dangers?

A meditation moves towards a concrete object or is oriented directly towards a thought. There is always a meditator and an object of meditation. Too early a merging, or even a consciousness that is united right from the start, without sub-division or differentiation, does not allow any constructive and progressive activity to come from humanity.

The earthly life of every single person needs “resistance” or in other words it needs a great variety of challenges, efforts and periods of endurance. If the contradictions found generally in existential and physical conditions did not exist, no “self” and thus no individual feeling of self could develop. In meditation, too early a uniting with the object of contemplation in the sense of advaita-philosophy, a non-dual reality, should therefore be avoided under all circumstances.1) Advaita: Monism, the teaching of oneness. Existence is one entirety, in which the reality of duality does not exist. Complete oneness with all. Relinquishing the principle of separation. The danger of this teaching, if it is taken without adequate spiritual training and without developing a spiritual ability to see the principles of existence of the higher worlds, is that aspirants merely produce a subjective illusion in emotional oneness, without real perceiving and sufficiently real connection. They all too easily confuse emotional oneness with a reality of the spirit. Meditators must observe an object over a prolonged period of time and explore this object with questions. They begin in duality, experience themselves in this duality, and slowly but surely develop a growing relationship to their object of meditation. As a result of forming this relationship, and the insights that speak out from it, a true connection develops, which gradually takes on the form of advaita, of being undivided, of “non-duality”.

In the book “A Course in Miracles”, which came about through channelled communication, there is a very strange meditation sentence. According to the instructions in the book, we should think this sentence with closed eyes. It goes:

God did not create that war, and so it is not real.

A Course in Miracles – Workbook, lesson 14

The use of the term God, and its strange involvement in a statement whose logic is hard to understand, seems absurd. At the same time it cannot be overlooked that those who concern themselves with a meditation sentence like this likewise enter into an unreal world and also develop a faith of a deceptive kind, as they suggest the good to themselves without developing a relationship to the circumstances. The Course in Miracles suggests a world picture divorced from reality in the usual sense and from a concept of God and spirit. As the statement irrefutably shows, it neither looks at the war in its outer form, nor deals with terms, like for example the term God, with a connecting logic. Channelling does not lead to knowledge of the spiritual world, but rather to an illusory use of “channelled communication” which, however, is really of a subjectively organic origin. For these reasons, meditation content must be carefully chosen and never taken from channelled communication without a relationship to real events. A meditation sentence like the one above, because of its irrational logic and lack of reference, encourages the danger of self-subjugation and a derailing of the psyche into a fantasy world. People who devote themselves to such thoughts unintentionally encourage the polar opposite to the materialism in the world. One could say that in channelling there lacks the discerning and creative self, which would be necessary for peace work and a clear cultural form. Through the lack of self and of self responsibility, much greater dangers develop for the whole of world politics than with only a fight between different positions.

When we look at the crisis in Ukraine and do not allow ourselves to be seduced into forming an opinion too quickly by partial media information, we actually cannot feel anything other than extreme unease at president Zelensky. Zelensky’s aura has worsened in the course of the politics, it is dark and yet in addition there is a very aggressive element with a strange driving force, almost like a glaring unrest. It can be assumed, particularly from observing this aura, that in the near future utterly irrational strikes will result from his decisions or from his readiness to represent foreign power interests. The danger of severe harm is actually now greater than at other times.

The gesture of Ursula von der Leyen towards Zelensky seems very unpleasant. Those who allow the pair’s exaggerated offering of hands to work on them for a little longer and more deeply, are probably bound to notice that although the two are strangers, they are connecting as a means to an end. The mother and son role, particularly when it has an inappropriate and binding character, nevertheless carries within it an almost sinister potential for hostility, and if the outer connection seems to display a polite gesture, in reality it wants to transport fighting, division and aggression. A gesture like the one taking place in this political scene can mean severe consequences for the future.

A president like Zelensky can only exist when the nation is already traumatised and has little of its own standpoint, individualisation and independence.

As a meditation content individuals can picture an independent person in their image and appearance, in their character and in their capacity to form independent judgements. In Ukraine it is probably a long way off before the country can reasonably get from its previous history and prevailing mood to independent self determination.

The following meditation sentence is suitable for concentration and ultimately for exploratory work:

Independence begins neither in political zeal nor in seeking material or ideological advantage; it develops to a growing extent through striving for cultural values and thoughts that are spiritually true. It is the result of courageous spiritual work of development.

By visualising these sentences and penetrating them in their logic, with understanding, over a period of time, individuals create in general a spiritual potential that enters into world creation, and the creative forces prevailing there, the so-called angels, radiate it outwards for further development.
