This question, which is not that simple, is of particular interest because there are various different major movements in anthroposophy and in anthroposophical circles. A first assumption would be that Rudolf Steiner’s soul is alive in the various institutions that bear his name. But where does his soul or spirit live today?
Naturally there are very many perceptions and interpretations of Rudolf Steiner both inside and outside institutions, as over time his work has become a certain cultural heritage.
A very large, colourful, un-nominated movement, which makes material use of Rudolf Steiner’s writings and forms expanded, methodological approaches from them, can perhaps be described as a very general trend. Both very intellectual and highly emotional dispositions emerge from this trend and, to denote them with a term that is as free from value as possible, they function as the users and utilisers of the world-view coined by Rudolf Steiner. They usually identify with the word ‘anthroposophy’. A claim to truth cannot be overlooked in the circles in which intellectual or emotional identification prevails. Experiences show that dialogue with other orientations, for example people who come from the perspective of oriental philosophy, is often rejected.
Precisely the materialistic approach, in the sense of purely using Rudolf Steiner’s thoughts and words, leads outsiders to the feeling that they are not worthy enough in their position of self to enter into dialogue. Real feelings of inferiority can occur when the intellectual speech of these streams is listened to. So it has not been a rare occurrence in recent years that people who had studied Rudolf Steiner’s writings thoroughly and profoundly, but were not real ‘insiders’, received judgments from many anthroposophists, intended to make them believe that it is only possible to read Rudolf Steiner if one has excelled sufficiently in this field. A better and a worse class of people comes about through this worldview.
Another phenomenon can also be found in the diverse fields that anthroposophy brings to the forefront. There are people who do not so much lay a claim to the truth of the texts, but rather endeavour to develop the insights into a practical, social integration. They use the statements not for a personal claim of faith, but rather in a comprehensive pursuit that has the aim of giving life a higher meaning. In the production of remedies, in agriculture or in education there are countless examples of this. From the perspective of yoga, this form of anthroposophy is what is termed the work of karma, a form of karma yoga, which examines the existing content for its veracity and then works with it in order to impart it on a plane in which it can be socially integrated.
Contact with these people, who are involved in living anthroposophical work, has always been easy and marked less by arrogance but more by mutual experience. The value of working and developing something to a practical level has brought tolerant relationships and expanded forms of experience in the field of anthroposophy. There seems to be less claim to the truth of anthroposophy and its world position than in very intellectual or emotional circles.
In addition to these two clearly recognisable forms and expressions with which Rudolf Steiner’s anthroposophical spiritual heritage is approached, in the future a third form will awaken. It will be called upon and become a pressing necessity, quite particularly because there are a large number of attacks against anthroposophy, which come less from outside but more from within its own ranks. The divisions resulting from these attacks, which quite particularly in 2025 reached a maximum and will continue, have the consequence that most anthroposophical institutions will have to redefine and reshape themselves and, in many respects, find their individual position. A major transformation therefore lies ahead in anthroposophy. This will become evident in 2026 with many tensions.
While anthroposophy continues to become confined in a strong, materialistic use principle and bars itself from its spiritual possibilities, reducing spirituality and excluding valuable spiritual foundations from any dialogue, a few individual personalities are awakening with both spiritual and professional competence. The spiritual wealth of Rudolf Steiner will rise up in a new way in the world with these people. It will not claim the truth of any teaching, institution or faith. A great unifying pedagogy and a sustaining, health-promoting force will emanate from these people.
In the year 2026, people will therefore appear in some parts of the world who are anthroposophists at the core of their lives and yet rise above all outer forms of confession in full personal dignity. They will represent the spiritual part of anthroposophy and will inherently find no acceptance in many institutions who call themselves anthroposophic. The souls of these people are deeply connected with Rudolf Steiner’s life’s work.
How do people create ether forces from texts by Rudolf Steiner?
Working with Rudolf Steiner’s texts requires intensive meditation work to build concentration and consciousness so that the ether forces contained in the word are re-enlivened. An example of this work takes place in the academy at Naone and is extremely successful.
Following the intensive work with texts, clear etheric movements in the room and in the interactive communication between people could be perceived. Although Rudolf Steiner’s words go back 100 years, through appropriate work of concentration and consciousness they can be brought to awaken anew and even to attain the power of initiation. The work with texts is therefore not only a matter of a reading circle, rather it is a trained activity in which consciousness is built and under specialist guidance can lead to very good results.
Where does Rudolf Steiner’s soul live today?
From the starting point of this work, over Christmas 2025 the question was developed communally as to where Rudolf Steiner is alive today. Over a lengthy period of building concentration and under specific, professional guidance, this question was able to attain an answer.
Rudolf Steiner’s soul does not live in institutions that bear his name, it does not live in certain reading circles or amongst verbal advocates of anthroposophy. Furthermore, for a long time it has no longer lived as a soul in the cosmos, but rather has entered into a purely spiritual dimension, into a reality that the Indian spiritual life refers to as Brahman.
To be precise, from the spiritual world Rudolf Steiner’s soul bestows a very profound strengthening for health. It also promotes the creative, inspirational force for arts, particularly the art of movement, an area that Rudolf Steiner did not develop at all during his lifetime.
The spirit in its specific form adopts different dwelling places in the higher or highest reality known as Brahman. Those forces that were developed for the spiritual world through a life’s work strengthen this world Brahman in a specific way. At the same time this highest reality purely of spiritual thought also lives in the depth of the human body. In which organs or physiological regions of the body is this soul’s hidden health-effect? It is truly spirit and yet it facilitates a strengthening of matter through its supreme steering function.
The dimension that Rudolf Steiner has bequeathed right to this day is hidden in the many processes of unfolding and steering that are motivated in the inner organs and above all from the cells. A great strength awakens through the existence of this soul, like a force of fire and light, that brings the individual nature of human beings to awaken, and models their protein to the precisely measured organisation for their individual disposition.
The soul of Rudolf Steiner has therefore become part of human existence throughout the world. It lives within people and encourages protein synthesis so that through the spirit and through their engagement with existence, individual natures enter into life in a more alive and healthy way. Proteins are the body’s individual building blocks, and every human nature must produce them in constant, numerous processes of transformation and development. Rudolf Steiner is today the force that significantly strengthens the fire of protein synthesis.
For these reasons this soul will not be born again. Some parts of it can, however, return etherically and astrally, as if in a subtle shimmer of light, when its life’s work has been well comprehended and practically developed. Individuals who develop deepest insights into Rudolf Steiner will always create out of this source and bring forth living individual forms of this spiritual life.
A few people will make a sensitive appearance in the world in 2026 and therefore spread not only an outer but an inner light of anthroposophy.
The soul of Ramon Brüll
At the end of the year, Ramon Brüll, a publisher who was very active in anthroposophy, died. Sadly, he was not yet able personally and actively to enter the path of spiritual training. He knew of the possibility but because of the threshold he inherently held himself back from the unknown.
His life’s aim was to bring books closer to people, in conferences and with various presentations. After his death this aim will become strengthened and his soul calls for the awareness that there is not only a lot written outwardly, but that people obtain encounters with spirituality.
